The Wilesco steam roller Old Smoky D375 as a kit
This D375 kit has the same features as the pre-assembled steam roller. With this kit, you'll experience firsthand how steam engines are constructed and work step by step on combining all the individual parts. The kit is easy to assemble even for inexperienced steam engine enthusiasts, thanks to the detailed, richly illustrated assembly instructions. The approximate time required to assemble the steam roller is three to four hours. It's best if assembly can be carried out without interruption. All individual parts of the steam tractor were subjected to careful quality control before leaving our steam engine factory.
Please note: The kit for our Old Smoky steamroller is not available in the color combination black/nickel!
We have been producing the Old Smoky steam roller in this form since the mid-1960s; it was the first mobile model steam engine in the Wilesco range.
This model of a mobile steam engine was modeled after a widely used steam roller that was used in road construction until the 1950s.
The color scheme hasn't changed since the 60s!
Mobile and stationary steam roller
A catwalk, chain steering, and gear coupling are standard features of our Old Smoky. The coupling—operated by a rod to the left of the driver's cab—allows the steam roller to also be operated as a stationary steam engine. With its 230 cc boiler, the Old Smoky is powerful enough to pull accessories in mobile operation as well as drive models in stationary operation. The aluminum roller wheels of this steam roller are anodized and painted.
For indoor and outdoor use
Our Wilesco D365 steam roller is suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. Since the Wilesco D375 has a bidirectional flywheel, it can drive forward and backward, and is steered by a timing chain. During operation, the steam roller's chimney emits authentic smoke. Running time with one load of original Witabs solid fuel is approximately 15 minutes. Running time may be slightly shorter when using other solid fuel brands.
A wonderful and highly recommended souvenir of old times for all steam engine fans.
This steam engine comes with 2 WITABS dry fuels, but please don't forget to refuel your D375 for optimal steaming pleasure.
